Dr. Gaetano Calesini has been in private practice in Rome since 1979. Over more than forty-five years of activity, he has developed particular expertise in the management of complex implant and prosthetic cases, especially retreatments: cases in which a previous treatment pathway has not produced the expected results.
He has developed original techniques and filed patents in the field of implant-prosthetic dentistry, some of which are currently used in international clinical practice. He is recognised at a European level as a trainer and speaker at scientific conferences in the field.
His foundational training as a dental technician, acquired before his medical degree, is a distinctive element of his professional practice: it allows direct control over the entire prosthetic production chain, from digital design to the verification of the final device before cementation.
Original clinical research in bone and mucogingiival regeneration
Morphogenic Tissue Management (MTM) is a bio-mimetic approach to bone and mucogingival regeneration developed in Rome by Dr. Gaetano Calesini and Dr. Agostino Scipioni from the early 1990s. The term “morphogenic” derives from the Greek morphe (form) and genesis (origin): in this context, it refers to the induction of tissue morphogenesis activated by the displacement of the osteo-muco-gingival tissues during and by means of implant placement.
Unlike conventional regenerative protocols using GBR with barrier membranes and particulate grafts, the MTM approach introduces no exogenous materials.
The MTM approach, documented in articles in indexed journals and in a monograph published by Quintessenza Internazionale, is currently taught in postgraduate master programmes and postgraduate training programmes.
