Conservative dentistry

Conservative dentistry

Conservative or “conservative” dentistry is defined as the branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of congenital (hypoplasia) or acquired (Caries) lesions of dental elements.

The ultimate goal of conservative dentistry is to recover and preserve natural teeth using minimally invasive restorative therapies based on biological savings.

Preventive dentistry

Our team of dentists carries out preventive therapies that limit the possibility that the tooth is affected by caries and early interceptive therapies carried out by early diagnosis of carious lesions and implementing point therapies, with meager biological and aesthetic impact.

Direct conservative dentistry

In teeth with minimal or medium carious processes, restorative therapies are carried out that involve the removal of caries and the reconstruction of the tooth in a single operative session.

Indirect dentistry

An indirect approach is indicated when caries have caused a significant loss of dental structure. It will be carried out through techniques, including a first operational session of tooth reclamation from damaged and infected tissues. An impression of the tooth thus prepared is then recorded. Our dental laboratory will then produce the segment of dental element (Inlay), which, once cemented in place, will restore the tissue deficit. The inlay will be cemented during the next appointment.

Conservative dentistry and sealing

The development of caries can go unnoticed, especially for children. In our dental practice, we perform non-invasive therapeutic procedures to remineralize or stabilize tiny lesions intercepted early. We adopt therapies with meager biological impact of great effectiveness to prevent caries. Sealing is carried out only after decontamination protocols have been implemented for the furrows to be sealed.

Functional aesthetic results

All materials used in conservative dentistry and endodontics for direct and indirect tooth restoration can perfectly copy the dental structure. Conservative therapies must functionally and aesthetically restore the masticatory apparatus. In other words, they must return the aesthetics of a natural and healthy dentition to the patient. The results currently obtainable were unimaginable until a few years ago; Even extensive conservative restoration operations carried out on one or multiple dental elements are now virtually invisible.

Diagnostic

In addition to instruments of proven reliability such as the combined clinical/radiological diagnosis, through “bite-wing” radiographs and peri-apical radiographs, we use laser fluorescence instruments for a particular diagnosis of the carious process even in the most doubtful situations and difficult to interpret clinically.

Our philosophy is to manage conservative therapy from its foundation, eliminating the factors determining the onset of caries over time. From assessing the risk of caries, we move on to the interception and arrest of the demineralization processes at the base of the lesion formation.

Studio Calesini, founded in 1979, is characterized by the rigorous application of the most up-to-date diagnostic and therapeutic protocols based on scientific evidence, the multidisciplinary approach, and the latest generation materials and instruments.
